Peggy Porschen Academy Here I come for a Masterclass in Cupcake Decoration

Submitted by on July 12, 2011 – 8:19 am2 Comments

Words cannot express how excited I am to be attending the Peggy Porschen Academy for a masterclass in Cupcake decoration.

In just nine weeks time I will be an accomplished cupcake decorator, creating Marie Antoinette inspired Cupcakes Peggy Porschen Academy(as seen on the front of Peggy Porshen’s latest book, Peggy’s Favourite Cookies & Cakes) with my eyes closed and my hands behind my back. Well that’s my very optimistic vision anyway.

On September 12th Peggy Porschen is holding a Cupcake Masterclass. Just one ofer her many classes held throughout the year, this class will show how to master the art of dipping the cakes in smooth, silky fondant, delicately hand craft pretty petunia flowers and intricately pipe drapes around the cupcakes. Promising that I’ll leave the class with a new set of skills and my own personalised collection of cakes – see why I’m so excited?!?

The Peggy Porschen Academy opened in January 2011 in Belgravia and is the first school in London entirely Peggy Porschen Rococo Marie Antoinette Cup Cakesdedicated to baking, cake decorating and sugar craft. Classes are led throughout the year by Peggy herself, her team of master bakers and sugar artists, all of whom have trained for years under her watchful eye and a host of guest chefs and industry experts. Peggy has become one of the most prominent and pioneering names in contemporary cake design and her highly sought after master classes are known to sell out instantly.

So, whilst i’m extremely excited to be attending the class I’m also rather nervous. I’m worried I’m simply not going to be able to deliver the goods on the day - afterall my recent creations have been more along the lines of novelty cakes for children rather than sophisticated designs that you’d be happy putting under the nose of a celebrity.

But they do say practice makes perfect, so I think I’ll tuck myself away in the kitchen and practice my ‘petite fleurs’ and fondant dipping.

    I’m insanely jealous.
Totally have faith in you to deliver on the day, wish I was joining you! You’ll need to share your knowledge when you return!
Her cakes are gorgeous and chic!

Well there is only one way to find out! I will most definitley be sharing my new-found knowledge and skills on here and if I don’t devour the cupcakes that I’ll have painstakingly crafted on the day, on my way home, I might let you have one :)
